Cheap family holiday (Sun, Beach, Ocean)

Travel Forums General Talk Cheap family holiday (Sun, Beach, Ocean)

Hi,
we are searching for a nice and sunny place – turquoise and warm blue ocean, palm trees, white sandy beach, without dangerous animals - for our winterholiday (19.12.2009-5.1.2010).

We are two adults, one child with 6 years and one with 1 year.

Last year we booked our amerika holiday over an australian travel provider and saved a lot of money compared to the booking in germany. Maybe there is a land where the Euro is more worthy than in other countries (exchange rate).

Something like the Maldive Islands would be great, but they are to expensive. Our max. amount for these journey would be about 2000 Euro (including food).

When we think abouts palm trees and turquoise blue ocean then we think for example of Cuba or Thailand, Malaysia

We would be very lucky if one could help us / or give us a hint to find a wonderful but cheap journey for our family.

Bye sunshineh

Nice sunny beaches, winter, no dangerous animals, cheap?.... The Canary Islands will be ideal. Hot, clean, cheap and lots and lots of fun.

Agree with the Canary Islands - perfect for Christmas at the beach with a baby. I can especially recommend the RIU hotel chain, once you have been in a RIU hotel you won't ever go for anything less.

You just might have a problem finding something affordable over Christmas that late in the game.

One way to do it cheap would be to grab a budget flight (Ryanair from Hahn for example) and then just rent a room in a small pension.

Another option (although I would be wary about that with a small child) would be Hurghada or Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt. It is cheap there and pleasantly warm. I went over Christmas a few years ago, I found a flight from L'Tur from Germany to Hurghada for 180 EUR return (per person since I was alone) and then just stayed in a cheap hotel there. I spent around 20-25 EUR per day (again per person) and I was very comfortable. I ate lunch and dinner at local restaurants for around 10-20 Egyptian pounds, this would be around 2 EUR (yes, two Euros - in Germany you'd pay 15-20 EUR for the same food).

The Canary Islands would be great. In fact, it's perfect! And one way to keep track on your budget is by checking out some places where you can and afford to go, and stay. I recommend that you check out some -snip-, it would be easier and more time efficient. :)

Have you ever considered about going to the philippines? It's actually pretty beautiful there as well. Try checking out Boracay Island, Mactan Island, Bantayan Island and Palawan and many others. This country is practically a paradise in itself; white sands, blue skies, warm weather, good food (if you're familiar with Andrew Bourdain, you might notice that the Philippines has the best tasting roasted pig according to him) and did i mention that your Euro is worth a whole lot over there? I think a budget of 2000 Euro for that period of time would be more than enough.

Best regards,
