Have you any idea how annoying that is to me?!

As you asked nicely, why not?! ;)

Long text strings with no spaces

Because i do allot of graphics stuff, my machine si set up to compensate for strange polygaons etc. But it gets confused with pure text, so it shrinks the entire page to fit it on one line. Which means that all the text in this thread etc is being shown at about 1.7pt text at the moment, and irtually intelligible. I have to copey and paste it into word, then add spaces by hand to reduce it enough to read. And it's not just that post - it's the entire thread/webpage that goes, so the TP logo in the corner is currently about half a cm high.... On other screens it, just means you end up having to keep scrolling left and right as it fecks up the word wrap.

(((rant off)))

And i probably shouldn't have said that, as i know you'll all use it against me ;)

okay...

i second that motion gelli. I also find it annoying when you have to keep scrolling left and right on the bottom and i would be even madder if it messed up all the fonts on my computer although my internet fonts are massive so maybe it would make it normal size...

i'm glad clarification was asked for because i thought you meant people complaining about being bored bothered you. but that didn't really sound like you gelli...

random question. Anyone know good ways to remember when to use commas? I'm in uni right now and just got a bad(sh) grade on a project paper becuase I don't use commas and that docked my grammar portion of the grade (even though it was a history paper) anyhow i feel like that is something i should know how to use properly especially as i'm studying to be a teacher. (summers off are good travel opps. if you live like a hermit during the school year to save money)

Ok rich, I've erased a few of those E's :) I can't believe it causes such a serious problem that the whole thread goes crazy! Or do you mean just the page with the post on it?

Leah, I've never been particularly great with comma's. One time when you're meant to use it is for what I would call 'tangents' in a sentence. For example, the basic sentence could be

'The color is red',

but if there were a 'tangent', it would be:

'The color, which I like, is red' .

The tangent is wrapped in commas in that case.

Other than that, I generally use too many commas!!!

ok rich-now would i...honestly use that against you!

i appologise for upsetting anyone, it wasn't intentional but if i have to admit it, it also winds me up-and obviously i didnt know that was going to happen until i had alredy posted it!-but that'll be a good tip for the future! i'll slap my hand naughty, naughty!

thanks peter for the little 'clear-up!!!' well i do like to causwe a bit of a scene wherever i go, he! he!

Now a personal SORRY to all that this has affected!-i won't do it again.

No problem, and sorry if i sounded harsh. Must remember to never make the mistake of posting to friends after working a 37hour shift, as i get more irritable at that point... ((And also my typing gets worse, especially when i can't read what i'm typing - apol for the pathetic spelling/grammer in that post))

Peter - normally it's just the page, but in this case the thread was almost shrunk to one page anyway (!), and the 2 posts on page 2 had also gone funny, as the PC is "clever" and realises it's all linked to tries to squash it all in.

i'm glad clarification was asked for because i thought you meant people complaining about being bored bothered you. but that didn't really sound like you gelli...

heck no ;)

Leah, try having a browse through these two pages (the first also includes some quiz/games to help:
