Hi

We will be travelling to Canada and the United States in Dec/Jan. We are from Australia and I want to take some wooden souveniers to Canada but we go to Hawaii first for a couple of days then Canada for 10 days. I want to take the wood to my friend in Canada can someone tell me if this is permitted. Thanks

They do have regulations about transporting wood across the border but i think its more about wood for campfires and construction than finished pieces of wood carving, they are worried about transporting various species of bugs that can decimate forests.

Don't worry too much about it. Keeping the receipt would be a good thing, so customs can see it's the article you bought and it hasn't been tampered with.
Good job you're not wanting to take the products into Australia huh? They'd give you a hard time at the border, wouldn't they.

i dont think u should have a problem, but as previously mentioned keep ur receipts, chances of anything coming of it are next to none. just be careful though cause in canada we are stringent on wood, as they have had problems in the toronto area with the asian long horned beatle. risk factor for wood trinkets though is probably next to nothing.

have fun!
