If anyone has any favourite backpacker hostels from any of the destinations below, it would be great to know of somewhere good to stay and meet people when we arrive in the various towns on our journey...

Delhi
Dharamasala
Kathmandu
Varanasi
Agra
Jaipur
Jaisalmer
Udaipur
Goa
Mumbai
Bangkok
Ko Samui
Krabi
Siem Reap
Phnom Penh
HCM City
Na Trang
Hoi An
Halong Bay
Hanoi

Good meeting places or just nice places to stay in any of these places would be a great help.

Thanks All!

Great idea Joe,

I'll be following this. We just need to know its genuine travellers who respond to this not people trying to plug their business!

Oh, and I think it'd be good if people who recommend somewhere can give a reason, or tell us something about the place.

Cheers

Bangkok - Stay at the Shanti Lodge .. my favorite place in Bangkok .. they also have amazing food .. It's right in Thewet .. AMAZING.

Siem Reap - hmm .. i think there are quite a few good places here .. I'm trying to remember the name .. it was very western and either had the number 15 in the name or that was the address .. when i get back home i'll try to remember to look it up for you ..

Phnom Penh - #9 Guest house is the best !!! NUMBER 9 .. it's a great place to stay .. highly recommeded ..

Na Trang - Blue Star hotel is nice and cheap .. tv, air conditioning .. very close to beach and food ..

I agree with the previous post:

  1. 9 guesthouse (or #10 if they're full) in Pnom Penh

Siem Reap: Red Lodge = www.redlodgeangkor.com

Bangkok: Shanti is nice, but far from KSR if you want to get tickets booked etc. Still, much quieter than party central.

Generally, if I didn't get any word of mouth advice when I was travelling, I found the Let's Go travel books recommend very nice accoms. Esp if you get the ones they give the thumbs up to. I totally relied on my Let's Go and favoured it over Lonely Planet.

Have fun!
