Mexico into the states

I'm booking an eventual flight into Mexico but my flight departing back to the UK is via New York. I arrive in Mexico, in Mexico City.

Has anyone got any ideas of how long it will take by coach to reach the states from Mexico City. Also, where will i actually arrive in the states, i was thinking of booking a cheap flight.

Also, what would people reccommend in Mexico city and northern Mexico sights wise.

Its close to a 3000 mile bus trip from Mexico city to New York City and you would probably cross the border into Texas at Nuevo Laredo,I;d certainly look into getting a discount airfare from Mexico City to NYC as 3 to 4 days sitting on a bus is what i would consider hell.
