Hey, I am planning on travelling to Australia on a WHV, starting in Sydney. I have a medical condition which I take long term prescribed medication for. I am looking for advice on this as I can't take a years supply with me. If i take a prescription note, can I get some whilst im there? Should I get family back home to post me some? I have no idea how to go about this. Has anyone experienced this, any advice or tips would be really appreciated. Thanks guys.

Australia is very strict on priscription drugs, so you must take proof from your doctor, get him to give you a letter about your medication (might be a fee). Your doctor should be able to let you have the first 3 months at his discretion.
When you arrive in Aus visit a doctor in the first 4 days and get a tempory registration.
Look on the webb under priscription drugs and travel, there will be lots of info, good luck.

I had the same probelm, I took 3 months supply, and just registered when I got to Australia. The only down side was, I had to pay $90.00 AUD for the prescription. Very stright forward if your documents are in order.

I got my hospital to do a summery of my condition, and I took my UK Prescription aswell.
