I may be going out to Machu Picchu in the next couple of months. What are the best shoes for the weather and terrain?

I did it with a pair of light trainers that had good grip. We had 1/2 a day of rain and mist, the rest of the time was dry. You need to watch the steep slippery patches, but so you do walking up any hills and mountains. I wouldn't bother with trendy boots. Your feet will get so sore and if it rains even the best makes will let the water in/through. Trainers are much more comfy and practical.
