hello
me and my beautiful boyfriend are getting a plane into Argentina, then we plan to travel via bus/train/hitching/coach surfing/wwoofing across to chile, then up into bolivia, and go through lake titicaca into peru. our trip will roughly last 4/5 months, spending most of it hopefuly in Peru.
At some point though we definatly want to purchase a car, and make our own way round for a large part of our trip, avoiding citys and going down the not so beaten tracks..that ole' kettle of fish. 
i was just wondering roughly how much you think we would need between us to scrape by?
for example if we had the car for half the trip or more.
also any advice/experience on buying a car in SA?...
all advice is appreciated
