Hello!

I am going on a 4 month trip to SEA! However i have my first week in Beijing. I am wondering if i should stay in one hostel for the whole week or different ones... Our price range is about 6$ canadian (or less, or 2$ more) each/a night. (SUPER BUDGET!)

I have researched Tianmen Sunrise, Happy Dragon, Qianmen and Ploft as Hostels online... I really respect the opinions on this website.. i want some personal advice if you know of any hostels to recommend to me a first first timer to traveling! I don't want to be scammed in the first week in the first country i visit!

Thanks Katie!

Hey,

When I was last in Beijing I stayed at Beijing Downtown Backpackers. It is located in one of the hutongs, which are the traditional narrow alleyways of the city. It is a really nice area to stay in, and if you do go there go to the Gong and Drum (an utterly amazing restaurant on the same street.) The hostel has fairly good access to public transport (buses) and taxis in Beijing are also very cheap. Trips to out to the Great Wall also pick up from here.

I personally wouldn't fancy changing hostels regularly within the same city, way too much hassle. I stayed at this place for around a week and was very happy there. I can certainly say you wouldn't get scammed as the staff were very nice!

Enjoy your trip!

Tom
