This has been in the planning ever since my OH died in 2005.

My original plan was to go down to Brindisi, catch a ferry to N Africa etc. I've changed my mind and, although the trip is going to be as cheap as possible, I want to start with a cruise (cattle class) to New York then several stops and disembark in Halifax, Nova Scotia (to visit my step-mother).

My problem is that the itinerary I've planned will take 2 years. I've been lurking on this forum for several months and most people go for up to 1 year. I have loadsa relatives around the world and I want to go and see them and the world.

As far as I can see visas only last for a specific time. How do you get visas for the next country you're going to when you are already abroad.

I'm not going on my own. I've met someone else and he wants to come with me.

Pick them up on your way. You will just have to plan trips to the various embassies or apply online or by post, if possible.

I am a 16 year old canadian boy and don't know what to do for the rest of my life so I have decided to (probably) move to Europe, maybe Ireland, and start a new life, of travelling. My point: 2 years aint too long :p
Let me know how your trip goes.

Sounds more like the beginnings of a new life - no itinerary needed. ;)

Best wishes for that.

Do you mind if I ask how much money you have?

If your traveling up to two years you might want to look at some light work like helping a hostel in exchange for room and board do some work at a hostel and also look at Workexchange. Really consider what you need and make sure you take exactly what you need and not want. What a fun expierence you will have. I also am doing a very long term extended 1 yr to 2 year trips. The thing is plan for breaks even up to a month in one place just to relax call it a mental health break if you will.

Good luck and happy travels,

Adri :)

Thankyou Adri204. I'd given up on my thread as it had been highjacked by EA.

I don't know how I go about the work thingy 'cos I'm not of working age.
