Your problem is basically the same as mojorob's. The redirect articles aren't handled. If you use USA as your subject it will work fine. But of course, we can do that better and will work to improve it.
I just used USA for the subject and it worked very well! (Look! Pretty pictures and lots of info!)

How about simply sending them all the disambiguation pages listed, each in a separate email?

I've fixed that redirect issue. You should be able to make requests for Holland and United States now and get back the articles for The Netherlands and USA.
Good reason to create redirect articles for common alternative spellings!
