Anyone out there a Shop-a-holic? Or knows someone who is? Any fun shopping stories?

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Yummy yummy yummy, I got money in my... tummy? Whatever, point is I love shopping although I can't take part in it as much as I used to! Saving is a wonderful thing. That way you can do the things you like best (like travelling!), be responsible, and then realize that all that responsibility shouldn't go unrewarded, so you go SHOPPING!!!!!!! Can't say I'm totally impulsive like THE Shopaholic (of the book series), to the point of public ridicule and quasi-bankrupcy, but shopping is most definitely the therapy I need.

P.S. Katie, do you remember how I felt BEFORE we went to the sale last week, and then how I was AFTER? Total 180 on the moods! Shopping and chocolate are mood boosters!

hee hee Tam ;)

Shopping is my relaxation (other than watching Sex and the City and eating popcorn, but I digrees). If I have a long and stressful day at work, I'll stop by the Dollar Store and pick myself up something small. Shopping is so versitile...it can relax you, make you happy, let you catch up with friends, give you some needed alone time. It even makes you feel good about yourself (like when you find that perfect pair of jeans that make your butt look good). Plus, it's good excerise....a lot of walking, wrestling with people to get to that last purse that's on sale, and, of course, struggling to fit in to those pants/tops/shoes that you just HAVE to have, but aren't in your size.

Hmmmm, I think I'm gonna go shopping after work today!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

I'm trying to muster up the courage to buy online! I've never bought any clothes online and I really want to buy these tshirts from one of my favorite sites (anyone who likes offbeat humour should check out www.toothpastefordinner.com... it's not a promotion guys , I'm just saying it's funny!), so I'm weighing the pros and cons out. I've never wrestled for something on sale although I have quickly grabbed a sweater off the rack as soon as someone put it down. That's as psychotic as it gets for me! But if you've ever worked in a store on Boxing Day (Dec. 26th), you should have some interesting stories. I have a few anecdotes.

A few years back I was working at Gap on Boxing Day, and there was a lineup before we opened. Once the shoppers got in, it was packed like a club. People were assigned small sections, and I got the Men's Jean section. A man asked me for a size, so I had to climb up on the ladder to get it. I found it and as I turned around I saw that I was stuck. People had swarmed in and the lineup for the fitting rooms surrounded my ladder. I couldn't get down, and people just wouldn't budge when I was excusing myself, so I had to hand the jeans down to the man. A while later, while I was on break, a bunch of the stock guys came rushing in the break room to announce that this woman was actually changing her shirt in the store. In front of everybody, she took her shirt off, was in her bra, getting the right size for the shirt she wanted. Some people are desperate!

People shouldn't have to work in shops on Boxing Day. Over here shops (other than spar or whatever) have only just started opening on Boxing day in the last few years. And I can't understand how, after all the stress running up to Christmas, people just want to dash out again. Why can't people make the most of the holiday, relax and do something different like go for a walk, or even just stay in and eat leftovers all day?

Seems to me like its the senior managers who decide that there's a big profit to be made by starting the sales on Boxing Day, but they won't be working they'll be sitting at home with their families, while employees are out on the shop floor.

Give it a few years and all the shops will be open on Xmas day.

Do you mean 'desperate' in the way that it makes you despair? Or did you mean she was desperate for attention or something? I'm just asking because we say 'desperate' as in, 'thats desperate' if something bad happens. We also say 'thats wild' or 'thats fierce' or if its something good 'thats powerful', we'll say 'thats lousy' regardless of the presence of lice! I dont know why we misuse all these words, probably cos they fit. The best one is, if someone is bad-mannered, people will call them 'ignorant', to misuse this word and know youre doing it borders on the metagrammatical (you see, i just made that term up but it fits). Its like explaining to someone why they haven't included 'gullible' in this years dictionary.

Anyway, im talking nonsense now.

ahh raven-i feel for you! i haven't been proper shopping for ages, i love lakeside-down in thurrock, essex way-brilliant! but i'm always working!-i'm going to get myself a job there i think-suit me just fine.

were open boxing day but i'm lucky because i'm part of management one of the others has said she would rather do it, but i do feel for people who have to work it and yeh give it a couple of years and all us poor, lowly shop workers will be enjoying our xmas dinner at work! i actually have 5days off straight at xmas starting xmas eve-thats a first for me but i cant wait!

i am sooo bad at shopping i spend absolutely ages in each shop and try on everything once i get going!!-but thats the whole point of it dont you think! i end up going back to the first shop that i originally went in and end up buying everything in there-i'm a typical woman shopper i have to say but i love it!

...and now for the finale...i'm going to stop rambling...
