Here is my list but as I am backpacking around in Asia the list is on going:
Hong Kong ( I was born there and lived for the first 15 years)
U.S.A (Lived in San Francisco and studied for 9 months)
Philipines (Family holiday when I was young)
China (Parts of Southern China near Hong Kong)
Spain (Tourist for a week in Barcelona)
Greece (Teenage drunken tourist for two weeks)
Switzerland (in Zurich for 10 days visiting friend)
Thailand (Phuket for 5 days but going back for more)
Vietnam (Just spend a month with open tour bus)
Macau (Use to visit a lot when my mum worked there)

I hope in the future when this topic comes up again, I will be able to have a much longer list like some other members.

What? You didn't read the whole thread? ;)

Hey Niumei, Finland was great -- not really there long enough actually. Just enough time (2 days) to have a bit of a look around Helsinki, but we were suitably impressed. Loved all the design stores, etc.. Hopefully we can go back some day actually. My uncle lives there, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Oh cool, very nice!;)Happy to hear that you liked in here! You're welcome again!

Some of you guys have really covered a lot of distance!

So far, I've seen UK, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, Andorra, Italy, Monaco, Hong Kong, Thailand, most of Australia and next week I'm off to the US.

I really want to get to Turkey, Egypt and South America though - from what i've heard, they're amazing! Perhaps later in the year...

I am with you Welsh. At the end the final question is: what is a country? and the answer is inside each one. Regards, Aitor, from Donostia-San Sebastian (Basque Country)

Wales- Does it count?

OF COURSE IT COUNTS... I'M DEEPLY HURT AND OFFENDED!!! I am from here and it's gonna be TOP of my list, but I have to agree with you on Newport... (I'm joking, but I'd say it counts... It is its own country... It would be the same as asking if Ireland counted, and you didn't... )

    Sardinia (does it count..? )
France (I've been there twice )

I've also been to a few other places twice and three times, but I wont bother to list them all again... And I'm sure there are a few other places around Europe I'm leaving out, altho I've not yet ventured out of Europe... (I'm not too young, just too broke!) However, I will be visiting Argentina in the New Year... Woooohooooooooo!!

That's the big question ok. There's so many different ways of doing it, but personally i tend to discount Wales/Scotland/NI (before anybody complains, I'm Welsh) and also the likes of Euskadi, Catalunya, Bohemia etc as they are always harder to quantify. If i start including places like that it's hard to know how far to take it, and if you are counting for the sake of counting, numbers can rise sharply. You also have alternate arguments. For example, if you've only been to Bilbao, can you say you've been to Spain....?

I have a professional curiosity in how people class places as countries etc anyway, so interesting to see different sides of the argument

If you have only been in Bilbao, it is up to you to choose, maybe you have ben just in Spain or just in Basque Country (considering countries).

For instance, when I moved from Delhi/India to Srinagar/Kashmir, I cannot say that Kashmir was India after my stay.

And, if you only consider "official" countries, is it right? Like Tibet or Western Sahara, for instance.

Anyway, I don't want to be polemic with this, it is just my point of view.
