CathyW has indicated that this thread is about Nepal
Hi, I'm considering doing the pilgrimage hike around Mount Kailash with a friend. Can anyone advise re whether it's possible to do the hike without joining a group?
Many thanks in advance
Cathy
PS. I do realise that it's not in Nepal, but Tibet's not listed on the menu!

Hello Cathy W,
Hiking Mount Kailash Independently is not possible. Travelling in Tibet with out permit and guide is not possible. Organizing a private trip for 2 of you will be very expensive. The easiest way is to join an existing group to lower the cost. For information on Tibet travel you can visit -snip-. You can also write me on this thread so that i can answer your questions.
Have a nice time,
Narayan Poudel

At first you need a Special permit BESIDES a Tibet permit. Ofcourse this special permit you can get in Lahsa.
I heard that a few who have been adventourous have done. Also since you are two and that two is considered as a group, you can hike around Mt.Kailash but you need to be prepared with your own things like tent, food etc.. Needless to say that it would need more number of days than a group tour.
Hope someone who has done will reply more to you.
