Travel Forums System Talk Maps in Blogs

Hi guys

I've got a quick question... or possible request haha

I'm doing like a wrap up of 2009 blog entry and noticed that I can only put one map in per blog entry.
As I have got multiple trips this year it would be nice to have them all shown on the one map.

So wondering if it is possible to include in the list of trips [the drop down menu when I go to insert a map into a blog entry] the 'All Trips' option as its like in the public profile page.
That way you can zoom into whatever part of the world you need or even have the whole lot showing with all your trips.
I don't know how many people use the mapping feature in the blogs but reckon others might find it useful too.

Cheers
Jase :D

Hmm, you're right, and hard to believe we haven't had this request before now!!

The good news is we're reworking the entire mapping solution and how it's tied in with the blogs and this kind of thing will be a lot easier (it won't be Flash based anymore, so adding in multiple maps etc. is no problem).

The bad news is that this isn't going to be done by the time you want to publish this post :( And it really doesn't make sense to rewrite code which we're replacing altogether anyway in the next month or two.... otherwise I'd certainly have added an exception to handle this. Sorry :(

Thanks Sam!

No worries at all, just thought I would throw it out there..

I look forward to this new mapping system you speak of.
No doubt there is already a forum topic for this but I take it all the mapping data will move across without too much user attention [he says with a sceptically look haha]?

Don't want to ask too many questions about it but will be nice to see what you guys have come up with

That's certainly the idea ;)

It isn't actually too difficult as all the locations are saved as geo-coordinates, so swapping out the map that powers them doesn't really affect it much. What it will allow though is mapping to a lot more locations than we currently have, and a database of locations that's updated continuously.
