Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean budget and jabs for South America - help please! :)

Hello :)

I'm planning on going to South America at the end of February until mid September - I want to do a month in a language school in Quito then do various volunteer placements in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, and maybe a wee trip to Chile and Argentina if I have money or time left. I've found reliable volunteer placements which provide accommodation, but I'd like to know the cost of food, drink, etc in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia (particularly Quito, Cusco and Sucre) and also how much travelling between these countries costs. Any info about Chile and Argentina would be much appreciated too :)

Also, what jabs do you need for South America? I'm not really a wildernessy person so I'm not planning on going wandering into any rainforests..

Thanks!

In some South American countries the rules say you must have a Yellow Fever vaccination to enter the country. I never got asked and I was border-hopping a fair bit, but it's something you should know anyway. Don't forget it.

Also, book an appointment with your doctor and tell him where you're going and for how long. He'll tell you what you need to do/take before you go.
