I like summer too...but I wish it would turn winter only on Christmas Day...u know, everybody in their homes, sitting around a bom fire...snowing outside...
But new years eve it's much better in summer, everybody goes out in the beaches to cellebrate...oh, it's awesome!
I guess three months of only one season gets tiring and annoying....
I like the changing of the season, so I really like Spring and Autumn.
It's funny, when it's winter you can't imgaine it being summer again, and whn it's summer you can't imagine it being winter again. Hope that makes sense
I'd take the melting summer any day. I find cold, dark winters depressing to say the least. Things get pretty hot here - usually at least a few days a year above 40C. It's just about impossible to spend much time outside on days like that, but there still is a certain charm about it for me. Spring and fall are better usually, with lots of nice days where everything is at an absolutely perfect temperature!
I'd actually prefer a constant 28-30C and don't mind the humidity (well, better if it was by the seaside with a nice breeze). That's how I grew up and it's my ideal temperature!! There's something about sweating insanely that feels very healthy. Shame about the amount of washing necessary though.
By the way, I managed to see some snow last week in Tassie. Not usually what you expect in an Australian summer (well, late spring)!
Ok I have to be different...I love fall and spring! Fall is great because of the crisp air, the beautiful colours on the trees , and the great clothes (tee hee). Spring is wonderful because the sun is shinning, flowers start to bloom and it's not too hot yet (I love sitting on the terase of a cafe!).
But if I had to pick between summer and winter, I dunno. I prefer being cold then being hot, but the novelty of the Canadian winter wears off on me by mid-January, which is when I just start cursing it. Right now, I'm in love with snow and Christmas and joy and merriness, but that'll wear off after New Year's Day. It sucks going into the metro in winter because everyone dresses for cold, and when you're packed like sardines in a cramped subway car, you start to sweat. Then you go back outside and catch a cold. Then there's boots leaking, 2 feet of snow and having to shovel the whole driveway, and getting frost bite.
But then again, the summer is so humid here and my hair just revolts against me and falls victim to the elements (ie: I get horrible frizz if I straighten it and wearing it curly all the time is just boring). Some people refuse to wear deorderant and when you're in public, you're bound to meet up with one of these people on any given day. I hate to sweat, and if it gets really hot with humidity I do....and I hate touching people who sweat (like when you're in a packed club and everyone's arms are touching...yuck). Bees and wasps are around in the summer, and I'm deathly scared of them.
Ok, after that rant, I say winter is better because it's easier to get warm in the winter than it is to get cold in the summer. Plus it has my favourite holiday (xmas), my birthday, and I'm just a sucker for a fireplace and cuddling up with someone special (or not, just the fireplace will do )Plus all the bees are dead.
mtlchica - I have a secret; I don't wear deoderent - in fact I never have in my life! I just don't sweat that much and don't stink! Oh, and believe me, if I did, there's plenty of people who would have told me over the years.
oooh summer, summer, summer-its quite liberating-well perhaps i'm just a little odd but i'd choose summer anyday i find it less uncomfortable than being really cold, brrrrrrr!
Its true, at least in a climate like ours, everyone is happier in the summer.
Summer clothes... that's all I have to say! I love sandals, flip flops, short skirts, sleevless tops, so breezy and liberated of the layers and layers of winter! Plus summer clothes are just nicer
hahaha!!! that's true! I feel prettier in summer than in winter! Maybe because of tha clothes, or my mood...I don't know...plus, I always gain weight in winter!! wonder why....
Remember that Canada is big and "Canadian winter" changes from place to place.
In Vancouver, the coldest it MAY get is about -5, and we get snow about once or twice a year for no more than a couple of days each time. The hottest it will get is about 28 degrees. So not rediculously hot or cold. Fairly mild.
Personally, between summer and winter, I'd pick winter... but if I lived in -40 with snow for 5 months, I'm not so sure I'd feel the same way. I do wish we'd get more snow though... but at least I can still go to the mountain if I want to.
My favorite season is probably the fall though, because of the leaves changing, the lack of spring alergies I get, not being too hot in the day, and the fact that I can still wear warm clothes and have nice days out because it doesn't get dark at 4:30 pm.
