Hi Gail,

I'm also planning on travelling to Oz around the end of summer. I'm 28 years old from the UK and i'm also travelling solo as most of my friends have the same commitments that you mentioned in your post. I have no concrete plans as of yet although i'm considering flying to Sydney and then working my way up the coast to Cairns from there. I've looked into Oz intro myself and it looks awesome, very good value for money too although i'd probably give it a miss if I had somebody to travel with. How long do you plan to travel for? Are you going over on a WHV?

Ben.

Hi Ben (Tigger1981)

Thanx for your reply,

My plans are that I am hoping to travel around for at least 2-4 months, doing the sydney- Cairns route, i would like to make a detour down to the Great Ocean Rd though at some point, either at the beginning or at the end.
Yes i will be going on a whv, with the intention of defo getting a job and maybe staying in one place for a bit, once i have done the travelling around part.
I just keep thinkin that at my age now, when will i ever get the opportunity again to travel and not work for that time span with no kids and responsibilities, but one day we all have to return to the day job, so i want to try and make the most of it.
My dream would be to get a brill job out there, and maybe be able to stay longer than the 12mths by applying for a more permanent visa.
With regards to the Ozintro thing, i honestly do think this is what i am gonna do, as i spoke to them a few days ago and they advise that they have people coming in 2's and 3's aswell as single travellers as they also want to make new friends.
I also like the idea of there being a group of people who are all in the same boat, who have come from many different backgrounds but all have the same intention of having fun and experiencing new things on a holiday of a lifetime.

Hi Gail,

My friend and I am planning on coming to Oz in september/october time also.

I am very keen on coming over and I am still sussing my friend out! We discussed this on new years eve on reflection of me turning 29 and her birthday looming a few days later! I completely agree, best time in life to do this with no kids/mortgage etc.

We are looking to get WHV, so travelling for a bit and working for a few months also with the possibility of staying for
another 12months. We should definitely chat!

I looked at the OzIntro thing too and and it sounds good! If my friend decides it's not for her I would probably look into doing it too, good way to meet people and ease you into the whole thing!

Look forward to hearing from you!

Claire

I'm 24 and planning a similar trip at the moment.

This will be my second time doing this and I plan to do this one better.

I plan to spend a full year on this trip.

I'm looking to fly into Brisbane in the next couple of months (between Feb and May) and then travel on from there (heading North and West).

I'm working on purchasing a 4wd station wagon ready for my arrival and will have a job already arranged.

Going off my experiences last time, if you have the opportunity, take it. You won't regret it.

A WHV is a must though.

Depending on what happens, I might be looking to stay on a more permanent basis myself.

I have just been made redundant from my job and am taking this as my last opportunity to have a proper adventure.

Anyone fancy meeting up (either in the UK before going or while we're out there)?

James

Hey everyone,

Im a 28 yr old girl and like many of you also wanted to travel before i have any commitments and whilst i can still get my whv! I'm also going to Oz but in October. I've just booked my flights, i go on the 1st oct to bangkok and then leave for cairns and arrive on the 12th oct. I am also going alone so getting pretty scared!

I looked at oz intro but it wasnt really possible as i wanted to start in cairns and travel down the east coast and finish in melbourne to work for a bit before i carry on to NZ. It just seemed easier that way.

Have you got anything booked yet? :)

Karen
