In 2009 I turned 30, and finished Uni (again) to become a qualified nurse, and got exactly the job I had wanted on intensive care.

Will remember it as a year where the first half was crap and the second half good. First half Mark lost his Dad who'd been ill for some time, and then he lost his job and we had to cancel all our travel plans, but eventually he got a better job, and I got my job, and one of my best mates got married, another had a baby, and Mark became an uncle, so all in all we both ended the year very well.

1) Twin grandsons born early May
2) Managed to see the Pasola Festival on Sumba at my second attempt
3) Tip-toed fearlessly through a nest of Komodo dragons
4) Visited Siem Reap and cruised the Mekong down into Vietnam
5) Got a great annual review at work in September (IT smoke and mirrors)

I had Beratric sergery and it has frankly changed my life. I have lost over 100lbs and keep on loosing. It makes travel a whole lot easier thats for sure. I also did a lot of traveling in 2009 and thats also one the best things I can do for myself.

travelled for two months to several provinces in China, that was really the highlight.

Revisited Shenzhen and Guanzhou on the 2nd anniversary of my nomadic life, tracing the my steps literally, and staying in my 1st hostels.

Then before the year ended, HK and Macau... I should have done Mongolia instead.
