Hello fellow travellers!
Right, i have either 10 days or 19 days (haven't decided yet) in Singapore, i'm thinking of spending two days in the city then moving down to the beaches/islands, heard Sentosa is pretty cool. But thinking possibly of then moving across to Bali or Maylasia? My geography is pretty bad but they don't look that far away on the map, anyone got any ideas on where i should go and what to see? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!Finding getting info on things to see in Singapore a bit difficult and want to make the most of Asai while i'm there!!

Thanks in advance! =)

Sentosa is pretty limited, you're not going to want to spend more than a day there I wouldn't think.

Peninsular Malaysia is very close and easy to get to. There are some good beaches on the islands around the peninsula.

Most of Indonesia is a flight away, but that's still a possibility.

You might also take a side trip to Malacca when you are in Singapore. Singapore isn't the cheapest place to visit. You could spend a few days in Singapore and then fly to Thailand or to KL. You can even take a train to KL if you want from Singapore. Thailand and Malaysia will be a little cheaper and for Thailand more probably fun too!

Fortunately you can still get some good deals on flights to other countries. Just be careful if you are using a discount airline, they have some weight limits and when you exceed those limits you pay extra! I preference is a regular airline that has special offers.

Up to you!

Just wanted to add that Singapore Botanical Garden (mentioned above) is one of the best in the world and covers a large area. Even for someone who is not particularly interested in plants, it's a unique and very special experience.

10 days is more than ample time for Singapore. If you want 19 days away, take a cheapo AirAsia flight up to Thailand for a short break to the beaches, capital, or hill country.

Singapore is a small place and not much to see. 2-3 days will be enough in this place.

If you go to singapore zoo then no need to go for Night Safari. Singapore zoo is one of the best attraction. Jurong bird park is another good place to go. You can go to both bird parks and zoo on same da as both are in same direction. Lot of shows happens in singapore zoo during the day (all free shows) which is must watch. There is one underwater show at 5.30 PM in the zoo which i liked very much 9if you manage to see this show then you can skip the dolphin show in underwater world as both the showas are same). Close to jurong bird park you also have singapore science centre which is also a good place to visit.

Song of the sea is must see. Shows happens everyday at 7.40PM and 8.40PM in sentosa. Book your ticket in morning itself once you reach sentosa as it becomes difficult to get tickets for this show in evening.

Sky and luge ride in sentosa is good

Hi i'm from Singapore and maybe i could help you out a little here. Singapore isn't a very big country to begin with so if you really want to explore the place from east to west, north to south, 3-4 days is definitely more than enough for you.

Potential places that i would recommend you besides those mentioned would be the different cultural areas(as singapore is well-known for its multi-racialism) such as Chinatown, Little India, Haji Lane, Arab street. All of these places(even those mentioned later) are easily accessible by public transport- the mrt(mass rapid transport) or public bus.

If you are looking at places to eat, do try the local hawkers. I would recommend you the hawker @ east coast park, its called Lagoon. You can find a large variety of seafood and other local chinese/malay/indian dishes. If you are looking for food places which concentrate more on ambience you might wanna try holland village, there's a local hawker there as well, surrounded by other cafes and there's a good selection to choose from. Otherwise, the other place would be Dempsey Hill, however, the place is rather inconvenient as the busstop is rather far away from the main area and prices are higher than average for the locals, but nevertheless, it is still worth visiting for its unique layout and atmosphere. If you prefer specific cuisine, lets say indian food, i would recommend Zam Zam @ Northbridge road, it is right beside the traffic junction and easy to spot, they have extremely delicious pratas and come in quite big portions too.

For shopping, the more well known shopping centres such as ION orchard and Takashimaya, Paragon etc all of these can be found along Orchard road. They carry both international as well as local brands. Places such as Far East Plaza and Bugis street carry wholesale fashionwear for teens.

Beach activities are best to be played at Sentosa, you can actually spend an entire day there. It would be great to visit the upcoming integrated resorts which includes a casino and singapore's first ever universal studios theme park. East Coast park is popular for its rollerblading and cycling activities. Marina Barrage is well-known for picnics and the nearby Esplanade is a good place for arty people where musicals, plays and outdoor music events are held. Clark Quay is also a well known tourist spot with various clubs and restaurants, it is a popular night-life area.

I think i have more or less exhausted my resources for now, as for travelling to malaysia you can go either by bus or plane, do visit Penang if you are searching for good food&nicebeaches, Malacca for historical sights, and KL for shopping. But as a local southeastasian, i would say for shopping and food and transport, Bangkok has the largest variety and lowest prices amongst the 3.

I do hope the above has helped you in one way or another, ;) if you have any other specific enquires about Singapore, do feel free to ask!

Seeing Asia by spending 10-19 days in Singapore is like seeing USA by spending 10-19 days in NY city.
Singapore is the most westernised (least eastern) part of SE Asia.
It's a good start if you're nervous about Asian culture but be ready to dive off into adjacent countries if you find Singapore a bit too "same same only different". Malaysia and most of Thailand are easy for starters

Spend 4-5 days in Singapore then head to Malaysia, use Air Asia they are cheap and you'll have a great time.
I went to Sabah this time and did diving and Orangutans but with 10 days you can fit loads in.

Sentosa can be done in a day, its lovely if its a sunny day but not worth it if its t also they are in the middle of constructing a new theme park on it atm so the view from the mer lion isnt really worth doing as you just see a bunch of cranes.
