Hi,

I am looking for some information. Myself and my friend are looking to travel down the West coast and are looking for any tips and advice you can offer.

We will be arriving in Florida the first week of October for a 2 week vacation with Family and Friends, After this a group of us will be travelling from Florida to Washington DC for 3 days. From here myself and my good friend will be starting our road trip.

We will be flying to Vancouver from Baltimore (Got to go visit the Ravens stadium :P )

We have a rough idea that we would like to go from vancouver to seattle, then seattle to portland, Portland to San Fransisco, then to Yosemite, possibly onto Las Vegas from here and ending up in LA

We have a budget of around 4000-5000 english pounds each so $8000 each.

We are also looking to travel either by greyhound or amtrak and also rent a car for some journeys, possibly through budget rentals. We have briefly set some pricing ideas for what we would like to spend, and would also like to rent an apartment in Vancouver and LA. After travel and accomodation we are looking at between 35-60 dollars a day for food and attractions obviously factoring in that some days will cost more than others

We aim to spend 5 days in vancouver, 3 days in seattle, 3 in portland, 7 days in san fransico, 1 day in yosemeti, 2 days in vegas and 2-3 weeks in LA, flying back to the UK from vegas as they offer a direct flight.

What do you think of this plan, do you think its feasable on our budget and also what the weather conditions will be like from october to early december for those areas?

Thanks in advance for your help

Any trips between Las Angeles and San Francisco should be driven and as close to the ocean as possible paying particular attention to the Big Sur area..
3 weeks in LA seems to be excessive,i'd try and add some time in NYC or Boston,or rent a car and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Hey,

Thanks for replying.

We pretty much decided like you have advised to cut down LA, so its 2 weeks there are we are going to increase our time in Portland and Seattle. At the minute we are not looking to see the east coast except for the capital.

On your advice we are also going to rent a car and drive down the coast and maybe stop off along the way and take in the views.

We have also been advised by a friend of Green Tortoise tours/hostels would you recommend them?

Many Thanks

Never heard of them but hostels would be the economical way to go and if they happen to offer an economical tour so much the better..

They certainly seem like a popular outfit = http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&source=hp&q=Green+Tortoise+tours%2Fhostels&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=&fp=a4e8181fd075cd5d
