Hi

I'm off to New York for a short break this weekend and want to do a bit of shopping. Are there any out of town shopping complexes in the New York vicinity? Cheers for any advice

Regards

Ade

Going west into New Jersey, you can check out the outlet malls in Secaucus and the Garden State Plaza (off Hwy 17/Hwy 4 near Paramus). The advantage with shopping in New Jersey versus New York is that there is no sales tax on clothing purchases in New Jersey, but there is in New York.

Oh, yeah--if you like a variety of ethnic foods, there's also a store called International Market that carries foods (and alcoholic drinks) from all over the world at reasonable prices. It's right alongside Hwy 17 as soon as you head north off of I-80. (in Maywood, NJ)

Enjoy

Do they (the International Market) have a website?

Sorry, no website that I'm aware of. Sounds like a good idea, though--maybe I could start it for them the next time I'm back there. I was just at this place four days ago--but I'm back home (in California) with all the rain now.

Enjoy.

When I went to New York in 2000, they had just got rid of sales tax on clothes. I just remember because when we were shopping in Old Navy, one of the girls that worked there told us to come back the next day to buy our stuff, because that's when the new law starts. Was it revoked?

Cheers,
Katie ;)
