ok I have two basic itineraries that I'm battling with. I need to choose because the one way ticket is way to expensive. I need to know where i will start and end.

choice 1. fly into santiago - valpo- work my way up the coast, northern chile, into peru, cusco, machu, fly out of lima (and everything in between)

choice 2. Fly into santiago- valpo up to caldera, then down to mendoza, to buenos aires, colona, fly out of buenos aires.

I have 2 months tops. I hope to do some farm volunteering through wwoof for 2 weeks.
My interests are vast: good food, ruins, nightlife, culture, nature. I will be starting my trip in mid march. Essentially I think I'm battling between buenos aires and machu.

help would be great!

Seen what your other interests are, I'd recommend BsAs over Machu Picchu. There's some pretty good Inca ruins in Argentina too, which are WAY less touristy.

Why not let your choice depend on what you can find in WWOOF? If you find something to the north, take route #1. Else, take route #2.

If you like good food/drink I would seriously recommend going through Mendoza and Cordoba in Argentina, maybe even Bariloche if you can find the time for it!
