Hey all well after much going through my finances in the past few days, I have worked out I will afford to go to Oz in November.
I am still planning on doing Oz Intro which I know they can do the Visa for you, but as I am not going till November the dates are too early to aplly for that yet.
So would it be too early to apply for the Visa myself now? What have most of you done or reconmend?
Any advice please given.
Better to wait until 2-3 months before you're intending to go to Australia; working holiday visas are valid for entry for one year after the date of issue (and then for a year of being in the country starting at the date of entry), so if plans change, that gives you more flexibility with postponing the trip but retaining the visa.
Of course, the general rule is also not to buy plane tickets until you have your visa sorted, while booking plane tickets is something which can benefit a lot from booking early, but either way, getting the visa now for a projected November date seems a whole lot in advance to me.
Either way, definitely don't pay oz intro for a service like this, which is really easy to do yourself. (I generally think oz intro is horrendously overpriced for the services they offer, but do understand the appeal of easily meeting up with more people who're starting out the same as you, and having someone guide you around for the first few days.)
My friend Stacey and I applied for our visa about 3 months before leaving for Oz, we applied online and got approved within 20 hours!! It's not that hard to do it yourself online....and if you need any help Stace and I have a website/webseries about travelling Australia called Jill and Stacey Do the Roo!
We have an episode on applying for your visa as well as two episodes about applying for your 2nd visa! And we are always here to lend any advice we may have :D Hope that helps even a little!
