I need to purchase some silk material in Bangkok (by the m to make a dress) and wondered if anyone has the name of a shop that they could recommend for being good quality at a good price.
I've been there a lot of times but can't remember going to an area that specialised in material.. I've probably passed loads walking around but never taken any notice before as I didn't want to buy!
Thanks in advance
I know one shop in MBK (Mah Boon Krong). The shop is called Siam Silk. You can try this shop.
Try going to Ann's Living Shop (Sector 8, Soi 14/5 www.annsliving.com). They sell silk fabrics in striking colours. Prices here start from Bt500 and up. Ann, the owner, is young, friendly and helpful.
Hope this helps!
[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
great thanks very much for both recommendations I will check them out next week
Well, if you are not sure of the place, there are ways on How to recognise real Thai silk. There are several methods for determining if a product is made from real silkworm silk and the most obvious method is burning. Real silk burns like hair, giving off an acrid smell, while synthetic, so called ‘Chinese’ silk produces a hard, plastic-like residue which continues to burn on its own.
