I'm travelling to Aus in Dec 2010 and as part of the trip would like to drive the Great Ocean Rd from Sydney to Melbourne. We've allowed for about 10 days for this.
Looking on the web, I can't see many backpacking places to stay... they all seem quite pricey. Does anyone have any tips of hostels/budget places to stay along the way?
Or I suppose we can get a campervan... what would you guys suggest?
The Great Ocean Road runs between Melbourne and Adelaide, not Sydney.
I did the journey in 2 days and stayed in a backpackers' hostel in Warrnambool overnight; I think this is quite a popular place to stop. My tour was with Greyhound and I'd recommend it.
10 days is a long time if you do just mean the Great Ocean Road - most people do it in 2 or 3.
