Hi, I will be arriving into Ho Chi Minh City but would like to go to Hanoi. I am only in vietnam for 8 days. I have checked on flights and the cost was ridiculous $1200 AUD.
Is there another form of transport I could use to get to Hanoi.
I believe the train does not leave from HCM city to Ha Noi.
Any help would be so appreciated.

regards, Bucketlist

Have you checked the Vietnam Airlines website? I'm not sure when you're going but I have just checked for a date in the middle of March and the cost was $79 AUD.

Otherwise you could get the bus but according to my guidebook that takes 49 hours!

I am assuming that you don't want to stop anywhere on the way?

If that is the case, try Jetstar; flights leave about 9 times a day and cost about $60 AUD, some days even less. Can't get much better than that! Where were you getting $1200 from?!

I think a Vietnam bus for 49 hours would be pretty much unbearable!!

3 airlines fly SGN-HAN: Vietnam Air, Jetstar Pacific and Indochina Air

Train takes 34 hours, I believe

Bus is just too dangerous and too uncomfortable (VN roads are very dangerous places)

Vietnam Air is the way to go - book online at their site and sooner for lower fares (I was fortunate enough to get a great $41. fare in November, but the regular fare is closer to $100.)
