Quoting maclor

ok
we have taken the plunge and booked all the flights

we have never stayed in a hotel in a usa always used a villa.

we are now looking at hotels . are the travellodges ok as apposed to hotels we only what a base not fussy about all the bells and whistles there is quite a price difference.

and would it be better to book from uk .

many thanks

Look at hostels as well and also Travel lodges are ok they are low budget for a reason however decent imo,

Adri :)

I assume you're talking about the Travelodge brand? That's not one of my favorites (rather rundown in the USA, but quite good in OZ and other countries). I prefer Econo-Lodge motels, but there are many fairly decent low cost motels. Motel 6 is usually the cheapest (and the noisiest!) I don't find motels in the USA to be a very good value, and prices will often double in the large urban areas. You just have to take what's available. More and more I use B and B's - more homey, but also quite expensive in the States. The advantage of a motel in this country is free parking!
