I really need some advise re hostels in NY - my solo round the world trip starts in NY and im looking for a decent hostel in NY thats not too pricey and has a good backpacking vibe. I am travelling for this week only with a friend (she is going to shop) so ideally for this week we would like a private room.. obviously money for me is a massive insentive but really im looking to meet fellow travellers.. I will be making my way to Miami on my own!
thanks in advance for any help given...
Jazz on the Park is probably the most known hostel in NYC, and it's definitely the one we see most bookings for in NYC. As you can see on the NYC hostels page, it's not the best rated, but keep in mind it's seen over 500 ratings in 6 months, so that says a lot about how popular it is!
Here are the hotels that I have tried that is affordable. Depending on the place that you will be visiting in NYC, you can choose either of the
New York Inn
Clarion Hotel at LaGuardia Airport
Milford Plaza at Times Square
The New Yorker Hotel
Days Hotel Broadway
Millenium Broadway hotel - times square
Paramount hotel at times square
the new york palace
Hostelling International New York is one of the top ones
I stayed at Hostelling International New York last year and it was ok, staff werent very helpful and place was full of school kids.
It was 4th July weekend though so I guess this is to be expected, but I didn't get the full backpacker vibe from the place.
