Travel Forums Asia Word of Warning

quicksilvr has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Not to be alarmist, but for all travellers in or bound for Thailand, please be cautious in Kanchanaburi near Bridge over River Quai. The S&S Restaurant/Bar is owned and run by a former police officer who has confessed to the murder of two young British tourists this past September(9/9/04). The owner is currently out on bail free to run his establishment until trial. While Thailand is generally a safe travel destination, please stay out of this establishment and be careful.

That sounds like a good tip.

As you are a first time poster, how do we know you are not a competing hotel in the same city trying to disrepute your competitor though? I am always a little sceptical when someones first post is so detailed against something. Of course I doubt that to be the case, but if you could list some sources for the info, that would be great :)

Cheers,

Sam

In Quicksilver's defence this story has been widely reported in the UK news, though I was not aware of the name of the bar.

I just received the following links from Chris regarding this terrible incident which I thought I would post here to verify the first post.

Although from personal experience I would recommend Kanchanaburi as a quiet, peaceful little village, this is sure to discourage some people from travelling there for a while. Terrible story!
