Hi, three of my friends and I are planning a trip to Shanghai in late March and we're wondering if there places that we should definitely go apart from the 'must-see' tourist spots like the Pearl Tower etc.

We've planned 3 day trip down to Hangzhou and Suzhou based on a fantastic guide we found online -
-snip-

Are there any other smaller cities nearby anyone could recommend?

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Hi,
I would recommend to have a stop at Wu Zhen on the way to Hang Zhou. It is a watertown in between Shanghai and Hang Zhou. You can fine a local people's B&Bs. You will have view of creeks and bridges whenever opent the window. Wu Zhen is not commercialized as Zhou Zhuang. It is more quiet and peaceful.
