I'm flying to Goa to complete a 2 week project starting March 7th, then heading off around the rest of India for just under 6 weeks before leaving from Delhi on 29th April so if anyone has a similar plan or will be travelling anywhere, then it’d be great to hear from you! I plan to move from Goa onto Kerala, upto Pondicherry & Chennai & then onto Calcutta before heading upto Darjeeling & accross via Lucknow onto Delhi, Jaipur & Udaipur. I am however, obviously open to changing that & I have no particular timescale attached to any one place.
Also, if anyone has any advice or suggestion for places to visit please let me know!
If you are going Calcutta and then planning to visit Lucknow I would suggest you to visit Bodhgaya ,Rajgir,Nalanda and then head for Varanasi n later move to Lucknow.
As you have both options from Calcutta either you can catch overnight deluxe buses for Gaya or super fast trains....give at least 02 days in Bodhgaya n near by it will be worth ..then catch train from Gaya and visit Varanasi and so on....
Thank you very much for planning to visit India, I welcome you to our Country. I suggest if you have time and desire you may include other Himalyan states like, Uttaranchal, places like Kumaoun, Garwhal, Himacchal Pradesh, Manali, Keylong. You will find the majestic view of Kanchenjungha from Darjeeling, the place you have already planned. You can book your train journey on line, i.e. Indian Railway
I wish your safe and enjoyable and memorable stay in India, I will look forward to meet you at Calcutta, the place where I live, it is called 'Kolkata'
