Monkeypod,

So sorry that such an incident happened. This is to all foreign tourists visiting India..when some thing happens as happened to monkeypod, remember to file a FIR(first Information Report) with the nearest police station and also write(send sms or fax or e-mail or a letter) to your embassy/consulate in India with a copy to Chief of Police of that region. If possible take a photo with your mobile of the person who troubled you. This can very much make things easier for the police.

Reg.good incense oil in mysore, visit Kaveri emporium run by the state government. The stuff would be authentic , fixed price and of good quality. There are lots of incense oils..sandalwood,and some of the flowers like jasmine and rose etc.) May be you can get in Bangalore also if you going to be in Bangalore. It is located on MG Road (about 3 years ago, not sure now).

Andyuk,

In Tiruchy, moderate good hotel is Hotel Femina (Tel:+91-431 2414501). It has all facilities like restaurants, pay by cardit cards, airline counter, shops etc and rooms are quite spacious. They used to offer a free pick/drop up to/from airport (not sure for which flights this facility is available).

More expensive hotel is Hotel Sangam tel: +91-431 2414501

Both these hotels are near by and walkable distance to main bus stand. Hotel sangam is located in a more calm area.

Cheaper hotel are many but the better ones are Hoetl Abhirami., where the rooms are small and noisy with rattling sound of steel plates and tumblers and located just oppsitse to main Bus stand.Another one is the government owned TTDC opposite(facingthe entrance) to Abhirami hotel. Being a government hotel, rooms and service are so. so.

If you are intendingto take a cheaper hotel, suggest you to check the room frist before occupying.

With regards to Bangalore, there are so many hotels.Since this is a big city, need your budget to suggest.

Brigade Road is one of the upmarket shopping street and close to MG Road the main shopping area.So following are the hotels with indicatvie tariffs that are located in and around Brigade road. This is walkabled disatnce from Cubbon park but a bit far to Main Train station and main bus station.:

9Marks Inn... Central Bangalore... 2560 INR
Empire Suites ....Bangalore South... 3600 INR

Hi Utrecht,

We also went to visit Bandhavgarh, and have to say the park is brilliant we saw a tiger on our 1st safari. We opted for a Gypsy Jeep safari and after about 4 hours in the park a tiger walked straight out of a thicket across our path and into the wilderness, we then heard all the peahens going nuts with fright and the low growl of the female tiger it was wonderful.

I was there in Jan and it was very cold in the morning (we left at 5 am) needed 2 hats and a big coat as there is lkots of sitting around listening...

You can also go up to the fort in the park by Gypsy in the evening which I would also recommend. It costs about 41 GBP per safari that covered the compulsory guide, car hire, and the gate entry fee for 2. Its cheaper if you have a larger group as you pay by car not per person.

You can go for the elephant ride also but at the moment they only have one elephant in operation as the 2nd is in the last stages of her pregnancy and demand was quite high when we were there so every couple only got about 10mins so we didn't bother. If you can get longer do do it as you can get very close to the animals.

We stayed in Goyal's Tiger Inn which we got for 1000Rs a night after some heavy negotiating, the rooms are very big with seperate sitting room and bathroom with hot water 24 hours.

Also the nearest ATM is in Umaria which is an hour away by car so make sure you have cash!!!! and there are some beautiful village and farm lands behind the main strip with the hotels on which is fun to have a bike ride through if you get time, occasionally they get a tiger kill a cow round that way also...
