louloul has indicated that this thread is about Singapore

I have read alot about visas on the forums but am still slightly confused!
I am off to Bangkok in Jan and would like to know if i am right in thinking i would get a 1 month visa upon enrty.Yes??

I am then travelling through cambodia and Laos (do i need a visa and is it best to pick it up in Bangkok or do you get it upon entry also?)

Next is Vietnam, i have heard you need to pre-arrange the visa (can i do this in Bangkok) and you have to give an exact date of arrival. Is that right?

Lastly, i need to know about visas for china as i would like to spend about 3 months there. I think you get a 1 month visa (on arrival or should i get it in Bangkok again) but how do i extend it to 3 months and where?

All of this is overland, so if any of you guys and gals could help me out on any of these problems id appreciate it tons.

Louise,
Have you checked out www.fco.gov.uk ? It's the Foreign office site and should have (or lead you to) the information you need.

Hi louise,

I am in a similar situation. I am going to Thailanad early Jan, and want to go to Cambodia ,Vietnam and maybe Laos too.

However, looking at the cambodia embassy website (found through the link stevieh gave)you need to send your passport to london to get the visa. This may take a bit of time (xmas post etc)And also if theres a few visas you need may be impossible now. Also for me, may be a waste if i decide not to go (have no definate plans)

So i was hoping to get mine when in Bangkok by going to the relevant embassies there if thats how people normally do it. I've heard people do it this way? Can anyone else shed any light?

When do you get to Bangkok by the way? I get there on the 6th.

I have been doing a bit of reading on the subject.

I have read that a 1 month visa is issued on arrival when entering cambodia. Is this true?? Anyone ever done this?

As for Vietnam, you can get a visa in Bangkok apparently but it will take four days. Has anyone ever done this and if so where do you go in bangkok to get it??

Hello LouLoul,

Yes, That's right. A 1 month visa is issued on arrival when entering cambodia and the Visa fee is us$ 25.00.

As for Vietnam, you can get a visa in Vietnam Embassy at Bangkok . But you must arrange a approval visa letter first.

Hi,
Just to help you out a little more you can check the Vietnam Embassy website here for Visa information. As I recall no need for an approval letter if applying for a tourist visa. YMMV.
http://www.vietnamembassy.or.th/visa.html
The easiest way to get there is by BTS. Get off at Ploenchit Sky Train Station and turn left into Wireless Road (WITHAYU), staying on the left hand side of the road. Pass the magnificent Plaza Athenee hotel and not too far away is the Vietnamese Embassy.
Make sure you have travel dates firm and if leaving or entering from a different border crossing to the one stated in visa be prepared for some major red tape and hassles.
For your Cambodia visa you have to work out your arrival method. By air is easy to get visa on arrival. If coming overland from Thailand or Vietnam can become another story. Let me know and I can advise you more.
Laos is a 15 day tourist visa on arrival at a few border crossings (airports included)or again you may get a visa in Bangkok for a 30 day tourist visa.
China can become complicated but it might be easier doing it from Bangkok also. You cannot get a visa on arrival at all. Getting a tourist visa is again the best option IMHO.

This website is the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok.

Approval letter? I have NEVER heard of this. Do you really need one for a 30 day tourist visa??

Louise
Also how long do visas take to arrange in bangkok. Can it be done on the day at the embassy or will it take about 4 days??
