A month in Africa...

Travel Forums Africa and The Middle East A month in Africa...

I'm about to book flights to spend a month in Tanzania in August and would really love to spend some of the month doing some project work and staying with either a host family or living in a village in either Tanzania or somewhere I can get to by coach.

I'll have my 7 year old daughter with me so I'm finding I'm limited in pre-organising anything so traditionally 'traveller-related!

Can anyone offer any advice on how we can make the most of our trip please? At the moment I'm planning on booking 20 nights (the maximum) at the Jambo Inn Hostel and then working out what to do for the next 10 days once i get there but ideally i'd like to be a bit more organised than that!!

Also I'd like to find as much adventure as i can and I'm not sure 30 days of walking around Dar and sleeping each night in basic hostels is the best use of an African experience

Help, please? I'd even be fine with flying to somewhere other than Tanzania, as long as the airport and a city or town are quite easily accessible (as i plan to visit hospitals and schools with a view to living in Africa in the future).

Thanks xx

Hi there ghanasgirl,

I know of a medium budget adventure tour (Zanzibar and Pemba for the Adventurer) you could do on Zanzibar Island that is a lot of fun and it also allows you to see Stone Town. In addition the tour is only 9 days so you would be able to easily depart before necessary. So it will only depend on how much you are wanting to spend, but I am sure they will be able to help you tailor the offer.

I hope you enjoy your time in Tanzania, it is truely a magical place.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
