I'm travelling to China on 13/02/10. Looking to take about $2000. Dont want to put my eggs in one basket and thinking about 600 US in cash, 600 US in Travellers Cheques and 800 US on a cash passport card.
I have never used a cash passport but can anyone tell me what forms of payment they have taken and what you would recommend in China? In addition to this, I will also have my bank card and credit card and will only be used in an emergency.
Opinions on cash, travellers cheques and cash passport welcome.
Please don't carry so much cash around - use the ATM with your cards - far far safer! I say no to traveler's checks - this is the 21st century.
Using ATM is the best method if it is comfortable to you.
If you use TCs then you need to go only to some specific banks to get cash..Not all banks will receive TCs( based on my experience 2 years ago). Also many establishments don't even know what is TCs.
Ofcpurse cash is the best option but you need to be more careful as not to lose it.
all the best.
Thanks folks. Some sound advice there - your right, its the 21st century (what was I thinking about asking about travellers cheques). I'll put most of my cash on a cash passport and carry a little cash (in addition to bank/credit card).
