Hi

I've travelled in Europe before. However, this is the first time that I would be backpacking and travelling for over two months. I'm on a shoe string budget and would appreciate any some advice. My itenary is...

Spain
Portugal
Morocco
Egypt
Jordan
Cyprus
Turkey
Greece

.....Starting in the 3rd week of Feb flying in to Lourdes in the south of France ( Cheap Ryan air ticket & was easier to get an appointment at the French Embassy in London) and entering Spain, except the ticket to Lourdes I don't want to pre book anything since I want to do things on the fly and have flexible timelines. I have put aside
4000 pounds for this trip, is that a realistic budget to cover all the countries that I have listed in about 70 to 75 days? Also, I want to use surface transport or ferries wherever possible. But I'm unable to find any sealink between Morocco and Egypt, does anyone know if there is one? otherwise my only (read as cheapest) option is to fly from
Casablanca to Cairo (£150)....thank you.:)

1. 4000 pounds is an ok budget for travelling around the countries you have listed for 75 days.

Recommended daily budgets in EUR:

Spain 65+ (1365)
Portugal 65+ (910)
Morocco 30 (630)
Egypt 20+ (560)
Jordan 30+ (300)
Cyprus ?? (making an educated guess I would say 35+)
Turkey 35+ (735)
Greece 65+ (1365)

Maximise your time in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and Jordan, those are the cheaper places.

2. The big problem with your plan is not the money, but the time. You plan to visit far to many countries in 75 days. Cairo to Istanbul (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey) is usually a 2-3 months trip in itself. And you are trying to add Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Cyprus and Greece!!!

With 75 days I suggest you focus on Portugal, Spain and Morocco and maybe Tunisia. Or go Egypt to Turkey overland.

To visit all the countries on your list without rushing from place to place I suggest a timeframe of 4 months and a budget of around 6000 pounds.

otherwise my only (read as cheapest) option is to fly from
Casablanca to Cairo (£150)....thank you.

Take that flight, the price is ok. You won't find a ferry.
