Me and My husband are setting off on our round the world trip in just 8 days now. We leave Feb 3rd 2010. We go to India New delhi first and we are working our way through india ending up in Chennai. We would love any feed back you may have about places to go around India. Also if anyone has had any luck with nice cheap hostels around new Delhi and Mumbai that would be great to know about.

hi

was in india in august 08 so hope my info will be off some help. not been to new delhi but we did fly in and out of mumbai. mumbai is a hectic crazy city but good fun. all the main toursit sites are situated in south mumbai - the gateway to india, the taj hotel and trips to elephanta island. do try stay in this area as we based ourselves at first in another area and had to endure 2 hour taxi trips every day through the craziest traffic you will ever see. the best value hotel i heard from other travellers is the Bentley..right in heart of south mumbai.....best place for food and drink is the famous Cafe Leopolds... i would think 2/3 days is enough to see Mumbai

outside mumbai i def recommend the town of Fort Cochin further south down the coast in Kerla province....nice relaxed old portuguese colonial town.....best place to stay in either of the Delight guesthouses or the Raintree lodge...nice comfortable clean accomadations. be sure you stay and explore the Fort cochin town and not the area of Ernakulam which is the built up city area across the river. very few restaurants sell alcohol in fort cochin as a license to do so is expensive but if you ask quietly some will serve you beer in a teapot or hide it in brown paper bags for

the ancient city/ruins of hampi in Karnataka state is a must do as well. 26 square kilomteres of ruins that will amaze you. be warned though the village of hampi is a meat and alcohol free zone,

happy travels
