Hi, do you need to stay on the north island and are you only interested in fruit picking. If your plans are flexible I recommend going to the Marylborough wine region on the top of the south island. The vineyards there need up to 10,000 seasonal workers this time of year. The rate of pay is usually hourly but if you continue working from mid may to July which is the pruning season good rates are available. I was earning $1000 nz a week for 30/35 hours a week. There are plenty of backpackers around town of Blenheim which organise long term stays and work. Look up the bbh website for more info

Hey ger_power,

I am intending to go Marlborough area in mid April, do you have any recommendations for which vineyard to call up and check for work available?
