janeyee has indicated that this thread is about England

Hi,

I'm going to Spain and will be taking a connecting flight in London.
I have more than 6 hours in London, any suggestions on what to do and what I can see in such a short time?

Also, I might be coming back to London for a couple of days and visit London a little on my own.

Any suggestions on a reasonably clean place to stay at a shoe string budget? Exchange rate is extremely high for me coming from Malaysia. so....

Suggestions on where to visit in Spain and London is appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

ps: This is a very nice place and I like it a lot!!

Best regards,
Jane

Hey there

You could stay at the generator in london, its 15 pounds a night for a dorm bed, its safe, tons of people, and they have a bar that is open till 2am! its clean, the showers are as nice as can be expected and the staff is helpful, they let me leave my excess stuff in their locked store room for a whole week while I traveled northern england and scotland!

also, as far as your layover in london, I wouldnt really recommend leaving the airport on such a short layover. I had an 11 hour layover and still was scraping by to get back on time. if you are determined to, tho, going to the Tower of London is always nice

as for spain: go to Barcelona, Leon and Pamplona. They were my favorite places that I went to there. There is an awesome hostal in Leon, but unfortunately I can not for the life of me remember the name. It had a reddish decoration motif and it was 16 euro a night last year... well anyway! Hope you have fun!

Thanks a lot mskalinin!!

By the way, I was looking at the pictures of the Generator, just wondering if the bathrooms are separate for guys and gals? or mixed?

Is it far away from the city?

Cheers,
Jane

As far as I remember, the bathrooms are seperate. Also, its in a good location, in the city. It was only a ten minute walk to all of Kings Cross, Euston and the other train station there (cant remember the name)... hmms, if you look at an underground map for london you get off right at russell square and its like five minutes from there

When I stayed in London I stayed at the Piccadly Backpackers Hostel. It was a great location. About a 3 minute walk from the big screens you see in pictures of Piccadily. They had high speed internet access (1 pound for half hour I believe). The rooms were about 20 pounds a night for mixed dorms. The showers were pretty clean and separate. They had free breakfast...it was toast with peanut butter/jelly. It wasn't fancy or anything but It was cheap and a great location. I could walk to St.James park in 10 minutes.

I believe they are still on hostels.com
