I am getting made redundant at the end of April and I've decided I want to take 6 months out.
I am thinking about 6-7 weeks in South America and maybe fit in New York there. Then I would like to go to Spain to work for the rest as I don't want to blow all of my Money. I am also looking to further my Spanish.
Does anyone know of any sort of jobs I could do in Spain over the Summer? And how would I go about arranging the flights as it's not really a round the world flight.
I should add that I will be 31 when I do this so I'd like to avoid the drunken Teenage clubs.
Also I will be doing this alone.
Any advice is great. Thanks.
Hi! Your plan sounds great. South America is not as well discovered as other continents, so you will be able to avoid drunken backpacker bars if you want to....
Unless you are working to earn money, why not do some volunteering in South America, rather than Spain? You will really be immersed in the Spanish there. For language learning, you should chose your country carefully - Ecuador is very cheap for language courses, the accent in Argentina is very different, Chileans speak very fast....In my opinion Colombian Spanish is the easiest to learn.
For flights, perhaps organise it yourself. Iberia fly all over South America (from Madrid). Be aware though that if you are planning internal flights in South America it might be cheaper to book them with your international ticket as this way you may get a discount.
