Hi all,

I am flying to bangkok on the 8th of Feb and looking to travel through Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I was just wondering if you could help me by advising what is the best way to travel between the countries (bus, train, flying etc) and for those of you that have traveled this route before where should I go and what should i see? Any help would be great.

As far as mode of transport goes I suggest buses in Cambodia and Laos. In Vietnam, Sinh Cafe (not any of the fake Sinh Cafe)Open Tour bus(they have website). If you can afford a little more I recommend the train. Much much safer. If your planning on not seeing anything between Saigon and Hanoi then definately fly.
In regard to where to go and what to see that is all relevant to your interests. Read travel guides on this site as well as Tripadvisor, VirtualTourist and Travelfish(among others). Plenty of info to be had. Then check the forums on this site as many of the questions you will want to ask have been asked by others in the past. Good luck with your planning.

You have a number of options. If your ending point is a return to Bangkok I would suggest a circular route. Take a bus from Bangkok into cambodia. In cambodia take siem reap to see the the fantastic ankor wat and if you fancy beach time try out sineoukville. In phenom phen you can visit the killing fields and the infamous s21 prison. To get onto vietnam one option is taking a boat on a few days trip on the Mekong all the way to HoChiMinc city. From HCMC you can take trips to the Mekong delta and the chu chi tunnels. The main touristy spots in Vietnam are along the coast so you could travel north taking in Dalat(nice mountain town), na trang(beach resort) hoi an(relaxing town famous for cheap tailor made suits) hue (famous citedal) and then onto Hanoi. This can all be done by bus. From Hanoi do a trip to halong bay and then head for sapa( trekking town not too far from China).there area few border crossings into Lao you can then take. In Lao luang prabang is a really nice town to chill out in and then you have vang vien ( famous for drunk river tubing down the Mekong). when you finish in Lao you could then cross back into the north of thailand and travel south back to bangkok

safe travels
