Hello ...
I just join in and need some help please :)

I am going to do overland by bus from Ho Chi Minh to Siem reap
My first time travelling on this area.. :)

- is it correct that the journey will only takes about 12 hours?
- will the bus go through Bavet ? since I am going to apply online visa (cheaper than embassy in my city).
- how about the bus budget , is USD 25 too expensive?
has one of you travelling this routing recently this year ?
- any advise to purchase from which bus company in ho chi minh ?

please share your expertise

thank youuu.....

I would NOT buy your Cambo visa beforehand. I have taken the bus: HCMC-PP many times. I chat about this in my blog. They take care of the visa on the bus. There are many companies that do the route: HCMC-Siem Reap. Samco and Sapaco are two. Here is a blog that might help.

Mekong Express also runs a bus:HCMC-SR. That would be my choice. But, unless you are on a very tight schedule, I would stop in Phnom Penh for a few days. There is plenty to see and it will break up a long day. Good luck with your planning.

I agree with Mike about just getting your Cambodian visa at the border. I had heard stories about people getting ripped off, but we were not overcharged for our crossing from Vietnam to Cambodia at the Moc Bai/Bavet crossing. Just make sure you have a passport sized photo for the visa.
