When using the search function, I find a lot of times that if you type in a place, you get a list of dozens of articles. (if you do a search for Madrid, just a completely random example ), you get the region listed first, and then places with links to Madrid, but not the Madrid article first.
Is there a way to improve the search function, to first list the article with a 100% hit in the title, and then the ones with links to the article? So that the list ranks the requested article first.
We've actually completely re-implemented the search functionality recently; there's still some bits and pieces which need to be slotted into place, and I don't know what the plans are for putting it live (might depend on the new design and still be a ways off), but this should definitely be much improved soon. (We'll also have the ability to relatively easily tweak the weighting when it's noticed that things like your Madrid example don't work out right.)
Didn't knew you were already working on it.

Yep, as Sander points out, there is a new one on the way thankfully Plan was to put it live with the redesign, but if I can integrate it before then, I'll do that to avoid a wait. It's kind of desperate for the upgrade.
I also just tested the Madrid example locally and the results definitely look better:
- Madrid (Autonomous community)
- Castile-La Mancha
The new search won't look much different, but it should certainly deliver better results.
