Hi all,

I am from Australia and I know that if I was to obtain a 60 day tourist visa i am able to extend it by another 30 days while in Thailand.

But what if I was to just receive my 30 days on arrival at bangkok airport? Is there an option to extend this in Bangkok?
When I was there in October/November I was in Udon Thani and they only let me extend by 1 week and it was a bit pricey.

Thanks in advance.

Pat.

Yup, there's an expensive week to 10 days you can extend. No extensions after that.

I believe the free visa offer still stands. You can go that route at no expense.

oh excellent. That is 3 months for free right? And I can just apply for it through my local Thai consulate? (Sydney).
I couldnt see anything about it on the website.

A friend of mine just left for Thailand on Monday. He got a 60 day tourist visa from the LA Consulate, free. The free tourist visa deal expires March 4th, 2010. You can extend the 60 day visa for another 30 days, 1,900 baht. This is at the discretion of the Immigration Officers, but is usually granted. Good luck with your planning.

thanks vegasmike.

If I apply for it before march but go to Thailand in April, I wonder if I can still get the 60 days free.

Thailand gives you 90 days before you must use your tourist visa. Apply before the March deadline and it will be valid until the end of May. The 60 day countdown will start when you enter Thailand. Before the 60 days are up, go to Immigration and pay for an additional 30 days if you need them. Good luck.

I spoke to a lady at the Thai Consulate yesterday. She said she's waiting to hear whether the free visa offer is going to be extended past March 4th. She said she's heard rumours of this happening, but no official line yet. Fingers crossed.
