Just wondering what peeoples thoughts are on having the vaccination for Hep B.

I'm travelling overland from London to Austrlia through Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South East Asia.

My travel clinic has advised me that the vaccination isn't necessary as I won't be closely working with blood etc and I am travelling with my girlfriend so I won't be sleeping around etc lol.

I have read though that it is recommended for travellers who shall be going through these areas which kind of contradicts what I've been advised.

What are your thoughts?

I took the jab as the nurse advised me too. Mind you, they did try to charge me £50 for it but she mangaged to give it to me for free. I can't see any harm in getting it... especially if your with the nurse getting the others jabs done..

Have a wicked trip...

Yeah thats the same they have said it will cost £50, if it was like the other jags I got I would have just got it.

Do you know how they got it for free?

I went there for booster jab and typhoid jab initially. The nurse said it woukd be wise to have the Hepatitis jab if i'm going to SE Asia. Then she told me we charge £50... but if you book another appointment I can give it to you free on that ocasion and say the jab needed for work related reasons... So thats what I done

Strange....I got my Hep A and Typhoid today but they have said that for Hep B I need 3 injections over 6 months but I can have it sped up over a month.

Did you just get 1 injection for your Hep B?

Now that you mention it, I do remember she said that too. But I think I only had two jabs as I was flying out a week or so later. It was less than a year ago but im pretty unorganised and have a awful memory...

Hepatitis B is 3 injections on day 1, day 7 and day 28. You can have the thrid injection on day 21 if needed. I managed to get mine for free but my mate had to pay for it. The nurse says it depends on where you have it, some surgerys give it free and some charge.

Ah that makes sense, wish the different surgeries all had it for free!
