Hi people

I am 29 and have been made redundant, and think this is the best opportunity for me to travel the world.

It is still early days but i am looking to go end of May begining of June. looking to go Asia and Australia and wherever else i can go. I have a budget of 5000 british pounds and would like to go for around 3 months also going alone

I have no idea on what i am going to do and where to start, although this site has helped.

dont want to miss the chance

Anyone advice would be appreciated

Can't give advice, but just wanted to say it sounds great. Wish it was me. ;)

It wasn't you, someone else joined just to promote their website in this thread, so that post was flagged as spam. I've now deleted it, so the spam flag you would have seen is now gone. It's rather strange actually that we add the spam flag to the whole thread, but the reason is that it stands out for moderators looking at the list of threads, so they can get to the posts that need deleting faster :)

So having said all that, welcome to Travellerspoint! I reckon that budget should be just fine for 3 months! It's a brave decision on your end to do this, but like you mention, probably one of the best you'll ever get too!

Every one needs an adventure like yours once in a while, its what makes life interesting,i remember when i was 20ish and set of for my own walkabout,i came back 3 years later with a lifetime of memories..Go for it while you are still unattached and not bogged down with family, steady job,and lots of monthly bills..

Yes, I agree - very best time to travel is when you have no time restrictions and your options are wide open. I would urge you to start in SE Asia because 1 - the climate is warm and inviting (as are the people) and 2 - because it's cheap and you don't want to blow it all on an expensive place. I like Vietnam as a first stop - very different from the UK, friendly and full of other young Western tourist to hang with. Second stop might be Thailand for the beaches, then down to Penang in Malaysia for great food, next stop to KL for a cheap flight to Australia. (then it gets a little expensive!)

Please don't carry that money in cash!
