If you have a lot of uncertainties, I'd personally recommend you to seek for help from all round travel planner such as Trailfinder, rather than doing your own bookings for everything. They can help you plan the route, manage the flights bookings, accommodation recommendation as well as advising on visa and vaccine requirements. Go in and talk face to face with a travel consultant. That way, there'll be less confusion and misunderstanding.

Here are a few TP guides to quick start you on trip planning, packing list and packing tips.

I did a similar-ish trip for my first backpacking experience, and I found Lonely Planet was good for reading a bit about which countries interested me, the internet was good for booking flights, and foreign embassies in your country (if you're from London, an embassy from just about every country will be right there on your doorstep!) are good for figuring out your visas in advance... but absolutely anything and everything you'll need to book ground transportation, accomodation, activities, ANYTHING, will be readily available and obvious to you when you're there. Unless you're an anal-retentive type person who needs to have everything 100% planned out beforehand, I guarantee you'll have great experiences just getting there and going with the flow. No need to book too much in advance.. the hardest part is just getting moving! You'll meet so many other travellers abroad that will give you plenty of ideas and advice as to where to go, where to stay, good activities to do and whatnot.

Good luck!!
