The trip in question by The Stig (love your driving) is not the Via trans-Canadian, but by Rocky Mountaineer. The details are here. The trip is one-way.

To get back, you have a few options. For flying, check Westjet or Air Canada. Bus would be Greyhound. You could also take a bus up to Edmonton, and then take the Via train back to Vancouver. Via takes a different route than the "First Passage To the West" (i.e. Canadian Pacific route). It uses the Canadian National route through Jasper, which the Rocky Mountaineer calls "the Journey Through the Clouds.

I did think you might have been talking about a different train trip.

After visiting my trusty travel agent it became very obvious that The Rocky Mountaineer's fine service comes with a fine price tag too.

So now Im not going

But thank you all.

Hi Stig, we did the Rocky Mountaineer and the Ghan has nothing on this completely different in every way possible - absolutely breathtaking we went from Vancouver to Calgary and hired a Motorhome back to Vancouver via Edmonton - food delicious and the night stopover in Kamloops great - there is no way to describe the Canadian Rockies - have a great trip - there are 3 different classes you can travel go the cheap way still spectacular scenery

Hmm, I never had notification that you posted.

Anyway, I realize the train trip would be worth every cent - its just I dont have alot of money

Ive planned to go whale watching and fishing and do other things instead.

Was wondering if anyone knows of a company that offers escorted (2 on a bike) Harley Davidson tours of Victoria BC? I can only find tours where you must ride the bike yourself- which I cant do

It would be a great to see the city.

The main part of Victoria that you would want to see is walkable or take a bus you really dont need a motorcycle to get around Victoria.if you were thinking of exploring more of Vancouver island rent a convertible as i doubt there are any tours that will take you on the back of a motorcycle.

Thanks Jambo

Where did you get jambo from?

Anyway,
... after searching, it seems that you are right and the sort of tour I was looking for is not available.
I wonder if its got something to do with insurance ?
