hi ive just graduated this year and am no longer a student.
I reallly want to get hold of a international student identity card (ISIC)as i have heard you get some good discounts. I have also heard that some people buy fake ones in Bangkok.
Has anyone ever done this...do they work?? Any other ideas how i can get hold of a ISIC
Cheers Louise

Hi, Yeah i'm in a similar boat to you. i've been looking on the web and they say that most places will except them but as there are now more common some places will ask for another piece of id that shows you are a student. as they are only about 2 pound, prob better of getting one. Not gonna lose much! Or you can get official cards for under 26's from the same people that do ISIC cards.

Hope this helps.

Hey there

I guess this is not a good place to ask for such questions

But still, good luck.

I wonder if the services would still be there if someone pointed at the place for you on the internet… weehee

ISIC cards are readily available on Khao San Road
So too are International Press Cards, Driving Licences, and so on.

Hi wocca
But do they work? Are they worth buying and can they really get you lots of discounts?

Sure Why not Especially if you use the same travel agent as previously, and s/he only wants you to quote your ISIC number.

Of course, there could be limitations on the use of such cards in your own developed country, but otherwise if you look the part and flash it with nonchalant confidence elsewhere .....

They're dirt cheap and easy to buy, louloul

As for discounts ... there doesn't seem to be many discounts available, but perhaps you might get cinema tickets cheap when you're back home.

My boyfriend got me one in bangkok before we flew to UK. We thought we should try getting cinema tickets for almost half price during the weekdays and it works! for the entire year we were there !!!!
